'Hell or Highwater' BTS David Duchovny Photoshoot - April 16, 2015

David Duchovny is doing a photoshoot for his music album 'Hell or Highwater'. Here is a small report:

"Had a pretty rad shoot with this guy today, had to nerd out a bit and take this photo at the end of the shoot. Lots of Spinal Tap talk on set... And some Swedish Death metal talk too. I was a bit nervous before the shoot, but I think @crispypolinsky said it best "why are you nervous, shooting Duchovny is like photographing a sunset". It was a lot of fun, he was super cool and down to earth. His band was really cool too and from what I heard of the record so far was pretty good! Fun day! Thanks @crispypolinsky @sgoggi @toomuchtoofast"

WATCH: THIRD SNEAK PEEK OF "AQUARIUS" - DAVID DUCHOVNY

It’s almost the dawning of the Aquarius age at NBC, and you know what that means: We’re finally getting a look at the trailer for David Duchovny’s new Charles Manson-themed ’60s thriller.

In the 13-episode series, Duchovny plays a Los Angeles police sergeant with a complicated home life who takes note of small-time criminal Manson when he begins recruiting needy women to what becomes his cult. As history records, these members of Manson’s “family” eventually commit various ghastly crimes, including the murders of actress Sharon Tate and supermarket owner Leno LaBianca.

The 90-second promo offers plenty of gritty, counterculture fodder — Jefferson Airplane’s “White Rabbit” and The Doors’ “Love Me Two Times” plays over scenes of Manson bringing a new follower into the flock — plus a peek at how Duchovny’s old-school, clean-cut, sometimes shirtless-and-sweaty alter ego gets things done.

Fly 92.3: David Duchovny: Man of Many Talents 'Hell or Highwater'

Back in September, or maybe it was October; eh it doesn't matter, either way I had the opportunity to hang out with actor/writer/overlytalentedguy, David Duchovny. Based on how I was introduced we started chit chatting a bit about a subject not many would have probably expected out of him: Songwriting.
Duchovny is well known for his protrayal of "Foxx Mulder" on the cult series X-Files, or, my personal fave, "Hank Moody" from Californication. He's a wildy talented man who is so incredibly down-to-earth, it was amazing to get the chance to pick his brain and hear that we have a lot of similiarities. Turns out, he loves to write (check out his recently released novel, "Holy Cow!") and not just in the story aspect of things, but song writing, as well.

David Duchovny is taking on double duty.

Besides starring in the upcoming NBC show "Aquarius," he's also releasing a solo album. How does this actor-turned-musician describe his sound?

"That's always hard because I sound like I'm bragging because I'm gonna tell you like great sounds," he told Access Hollywood on Thursday during NBC's summer press day. "To me, it's like R.E.M. It's like Wilco… It's in my dreams, of course, is these things."

Video Interview: David Duchovny talks 'X-Files' & new album 'Hell or Highwater' - April 2, 2015

Premiering May 28 on NBC, the freshman series Aquarius centers on Sam Hodiak (David Duchovny), a homicide detective who’s searching for the missing daughter (Emma Dumont) of an ex-girlfriend in 1967 Los Angeles. A mixture of hardboiled, sunshine noir and historical fiction, Aquarius also stars Gethin Anthony as Charles Manson.

Along with the anticipated premiere of Aquarius, Duchovny is also returning to The X-Files universe with Gillian Anderson and producer/writer Chris Carter. The trio’s last collaboration was the 2008 feature The X-Files: I Want To Believe.

“I’m happy to be going back. We’re going to do six episodes of The X-Files in June. It’ll be interesting to see what we got, you know? It’ll be interesting to see who we are now and what stories we’re going to tell. I don’t know anything more about it than that – just that I’m excited to work with Gillian and Chris again.“

Executive producers Marty Adelstein, John McNamara, cast member Emma Dumont, cast member and executive producer David Duchovny, cast members Grey Damon, Gethin Anthony and Claire Holt participate in a panel of "Aquarius" during NBCUniversal Summer Press Day on April 2, 2015 in Pasadena, California.

Deadline: David Duchovny On NBC’s Manson-Family Drama ‘Aquarius': “I Did ‘The X Files’ – Nothing Creeps Me Out”

NBC’s new Aquarius, about a cop working in Los Angeles at the time of the rise of cult leader Charles Manson, originally was envisioned as a novel series, creator John McNamara said this afternoon. Until Marty Adelstein told him it was a terrible idea, because in a novel you can’t hear the music and music was one of the main characters. “That was 2008 and we’ve been developing it ever since,” McNamara said.

One year ago last month, NBC announced that, following the end of his Showtime series Californication, David Duchovny would reunite with former Showtime topper Bob Greenblatt for the period drama. NBC gave the event series a 13-episode straight-to-series order, marking a return to broadcast TV for Duchovny, who starred in Fox’s hit The X-Files, with which Greenblatt also was involved as a Fox exec at that time.

Variety: David Duchovny Always Wanted ‘The X-Files’ to Return to TV

David Duchovny is gearing up to become Mulder once again with “The X-Files” revival going into production this summer, and he admits he’s always wanted the show to return.

“We always wanted to keep it going,” Duchovny told Variety on Thursday at NBC’s Summer Press Day in Pasadena, Calif., where he was on site to promote his upcoming drama “Aquarius,” which premieres May 28. “We always envisioned a movie franchise when we stopped the TV show, and we did two — the second one did well, but I guess not well enough to do a third, and we were all kind of disappointed that didn’t happen that way.”

“The X-Files” reboot will return to Fox with original creator Chris Carter for six episodes, which Duchovny says was appealing to him. “Television started to change in that now there are limited runs.” He added: “I think it’s the way the networks have to survive in the future. I think you can attract the talent you want by having a shorter season and you can tell more interesting stories.”
