Page Six: David Duchovny, Tea Leoni share holiday with kids despite divorce

It’s not only Gwyneth Paltrow who can pull off the perfect “conscious uncoupling.”

David Duchovny and Téa Leoni may have finalized their divorce this year, but they were still spotted heading on a plane together with their kids bound for Turks and Caicos for the holidays.

The “X-Files” actor and Leoni quietly divorced in August and agreed on joint legal custody of their children — daughter Madelaine, 15, and son Kyd, 12.

In September, “Madam Secretary” actress Leoni said she and “Californication” star Duchovny, who wed in 1997 and briefly separated in 2008 when he reportedly underwent treatment for sex addiction, remained on good terms.

Photos & Article: David Duchovny Talks Music with Berklee College Of Music Students

Actor David Duchovny had some good advice for students at Berklee College of music yesterday, where the X-Files star was speaking to a class about his upcoming record, his new band, and how to find the right musicians to play with.

“Resilience is the most important part of your career,” Duchovny said. “You have to keep trying.”
At that point, Duchovny was actually speaking about his acting career, responding to a question from a Berklee student about how he juggles so many projects and paths. But now that Showtime series Californication is in the books and upcoming NBC drama Aquarius has finished filming, Duchovny has shifted his focus to music, and could very well have been talking about his newfound hobby.

Actor David Duchovny, best known for his roles as FBI agent/conspiracist Fox Mulder on “The X Files” and lothario/novelist Hank Moody on “Californication,” will put his acting career on hold next year to release a double album on the Boston label ThinkSay Records. On Thursday, the actor-turned-musician, his producer, Berklee grad Colin Lee, as well as ThinkSay president Brad Davidson, spoke to a class of Berklee students about their collaborative process. “I never expected any of this to happen,” Duchovny said to the classroom of students and photographers, “I’m not a musician. . . . It’s kind of a dream for me.” During the session, Duchovny revealed that he has always had a penchant for poetry, so writing lyrics was a natural next step. When Davidson, a former executive for Warner Bros. and Columbia Records, first heard demos of Duchovny’s songs, he said it had a “[Bob] Dylan-esque, Lou Reed, R.E.M. feel.” “David is really the album we’re focusing on this year,” he said.

DAVID DUCHOVNY IS IN BOSTON THIS WEEK RECORDING HIS NEW ALBUM, ‘HELL OR HIGHWATER’

When it comes to David Duchovny and music, we immediately think back to Catatonia’s mid-’90s post-Britpop hit “Mulder & Scully.” But apparently the X-Files and Californication actor fancies himself a musician in his own right, and will be in Boston this week recording his new album and speaking to students at Berklee College of Music.

We’re told Duchnovy is in town recording his first studio record, titled Hell or Highwater, at Q Division in Somerville. The album is set for March 2015 release via Boston label ThinkSay Records, which last year signed a distribution deal with Caroline. Back in May, ThinkSay posted a teaser clip to one of Duchovny’s songs, “Let It Rain,” which you can preview below.

The Dawning of ‘Aquarius’: How Charles Manson Returned To TV — Mipcom

“The development season is a fool’s errand,” exclaims Marty Adelstein, who recently formed Tomorrow Studios, a shingle under ITV Studios U.S. to develop scripted series. A founding partner at Endeavor and on-the-lot TV producer at 20th Century Fox TV, the industry vet was referring to the edgy cop series Aquarius — and his hard-won liberation from the red tape that often clogs the development process at a TV network, notably the unnecessary script notes and the labor-intensive pilot processs. The show stars David Duchovny as an L.A. cop trailing Charles Manson in 1967, and it’s one of a growing number series to go straight from script to production thanks to foreign distributors that raise financing via regional sale licenses. In the case of Aquarius, ITV Studios Global Entertainment is the distributor. NBC took the U.S. license and will premiere the show early next year.

MIPCOM: The Making of NBC's Charles Manson Thriller 'Aquarius'

In a year packed with new series, Aquarius, the new period thriller starring David Duchovny, has been one of the most-talked about fiction shows at this year's MIPCOM international television market. The show, which will premiere on NBC, features Duchovny as an L.A. cop in the 1960s on the trail of Charles Manson. Grey Damon co-stars as a young, rebellious detective who goes undercover to help him while Game of Thrones actor Gethin Anthony plays Manson.

Interview: ITV Studios about US network drama Aquarius - October 2014

Launching major new drama series these days is a complicated business that demands so much more than just a great script and an A-List line-up of talent. Cutting through the noise to get the show noticed by buyers is one major challenge, and then, of course, there’s the matter of the fierce and unrelenting competition from other high-end drama series. Ruth Clarke, director of acquisitions and co-productions at ITV Studios, reveals her strategy for the company’s big launch at this market, the US network drama Aquarius, starring David Duchovny, which has its first ever screening at MIPCOM.

David Duchovny Speaks ‘Louder Than Words’ and Its Inspiration

The indie film “Louder Than Words” tells the real-life story of how the rabies death of 13-year-old Maria Fareri spurred her family to build a state-of-the-art children’s hospital that allows parents to be part of the healing process.

The film stars David Duchovny and Hope Davis as Maria’s parents, John and Brenda Fareri, and Duchonvy spoke with ExtraTV.com about the experience.

Duchovny explained, “As a parent, that was the key to the whole story. I just related to that kind of devastation, and the reaction this family had that they didn’t just give up. That they moved outward to help others, which I thought was a beautiful story.”

Californication Season 7 on DVD

Californication Season on DVD
Californication: The Final Season:  The last 12 episodes of the Showtime comedy series continue the wild ride that has been the life of Hank Moody (David Duchovny). His portrayal of the flawed novelist has featured enough emotional highs and sexual lows to earn Duchovny a Golden Globe.
Through each season, Moody has tried to adjust to being a New Yorker in sunny California. It’s not been easy. The final season finds him in the writer’s room as his never-released feature film “Santa Monica Cop” has been turned into a television series. In typical Moody fashion, he has trouble getting along with the other writers.
