Suspicion between the superpowers is at its peak and the Americans are staging a mass Naval exercise in the Pacific. To observe the manoeuvres submarine Captain Dmitri Zubov, an experienced sailor but a man troubled by a past he struggles to live with, sets sail on what is the final mission of Soviet submarine B756. Armed with multiple torpedoes and a single tactical nuclear ballistic missile the sub is also fitted with a cloaking device that can render them invisible to the Americans. When B756 fails to make a position report - the last that is heard from the sub it was 500 nautical miles NW of the Hawaiian Islands - Fleet Command classifies the vessel as missing. Fearing western retaliation they send their entire fleet after B756. Meanwhile deep under the Pacific Ocean Captain Zubov and the ship’s crew of the B-756 uncover a plot that will destroy humanity. Zubov is determined to foil the plot but as the sub is pushed to its very limits and air supplies diminish, he and the crew face almost impossible odds and an increasingly unsettling sense that they are not alone...

Jonathan Schaech, Sean Patrick Flannery, Jason Beghe, Julian Adams and Jason Grey-Stanford round out the cast. Dagmara Dominczyk also stars!

Phantom - Appeal Against R-Rating

Producers Unhappy About MPAA's Decision

There are already some films out there that take place in a submarine, e.g. Das Boot, U-571 or Crimson Tide come to mind. However, it seems that there are still some stories and investors that make more films with this context possible. The thriller Phantom starring David Duchovny and Ed Harris is one of them. With a budget of 18 million Dollars, little is known about the plot in which a captain of a Soviet submarine has to carry out a mission with a mysterious motive. The first mission to complete is one for the film's producers who are not happy about the "R" rating (for violence) assigned by the MPAA. According to the MPAA bulletin, the producers intend to appeal the classification. It remains to be seen whether they just try to argue or directly apply cuts in order to secure the lower PG-13 rating. We'll see how it turns out. movie-censorship

NEWS/Californication First Look: David Duchovny Prepares to Take Center Stage

The new season of Showtime's Californication is right around the corner (Jan. 13!), and we have the exclusive first look at the promo art to help you prepare for the return of Hank (David Duchovny).
In season six, Hank's hit novel "God Hates Us All" that was adapted into the film A Crazy Thing Called Love is now being adapted into a Broadway production, and with that comes great guest stars to help make the musical happen. Australian comedy star Tim Minchin will play Atticus Fetch, the crazy rock star responsible for writing the music for the production. Fetch decides that he must collaborate with Hank on the project, so you can only imagine how well that will turn out.
Maggie Grace is also guest starring as Faith, a rock groupie, and Marilyn Manson is set to appear in two episodes this season. Check out the first poster promoting the new season, and set your DVR's for the return of Californication on Jan. 13! EOnline
