Phantom (Blu-ray)
20th Century Fox / 2013 / Rated RStreet Date: June 25, 2013
Despite having recognizable stars like David Duchovny and Ed Harris attached, 'Phantom' came and went in theaters earlier this year without making much more than a whisper in terms of box office. BoxOfficeMojo.com notes that in the submarine genre it ranks seventh, which isn't too bad until you realize that there's only eight movies in the list. 'Phantom' isn't going to be remembered like 'The Hunt for Red October' or 'Crimson Tide.' Curiously though, it may have a tiny bit more in common with what made those movies successful than you might think.
Now, don't get me wrong, 'Phantom' still has a long way to go to be compared to the classic submarine-set thrillers, but it does get some things right, which at least makes it worth watching. 'Phantom' focuses on the story of a Russian submarine armed with a nuclear missile that went "missing" during the time of the Cuban Missile Crisis. As you might suspect, this would be an alarming state of affairs during a period of the Cold War where tensions were at an all-time high. Many people thought that World War III was right around the corner. The fact that there was a missing Russian submarine with a nuke wandering the oceans lent credence to that fear.

As a writer, director and producer, Todd Robinson ’82 has worked with John Travolta, Emilio Estevez, Salma Hayek and Jeff Bridges, among others. Phantom, Mr. Robinson’s latest release, which he wrote and directed, is a Cold War thriller about an ill-fated Soviet submarine mission and the clash between the hardened captain (played by Ed Harris) and the conspiring KGB operative (played by David Duchovny) assigned to his ship.
David Duchovny is the latest actor said to be associated with the long-gestating Pararescueman drama “The Last Full Measure”. The film, which also has Andy Garcia, Robert Duvall, Laurence Fishburne and Morgan Freeman attached, reunites Duchovny with his “Phantom” writer/director Todd Robinson.
Robinson, speaking about the film’s lengthy delays in an interview with Zap2it, said Duchovny and another “Phantom” star William Fichtner have agreed to partake in the film.
Robinson says, despite the delays, “Last Full Measure” is expected to film in Georgia before the end of the year.
Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment has officially announced that it will release on Blu-ray director Todd Robinson's thriller Phantom (2013), starring Ed Harris, David Duchovny, and William Fichtner. The release will be available for purchase on June 25th.

About a week ago (sorry about the lag time, and the radio silence for the past couple of weeks; midterms are Hell), my university held a private screening of Todd Robinson's new movie Phantom.

"The Last Full Measure" is a passion piece for Robinson that he's set to begin filming in coastal Georgia later this year. The cast list is stacked with legendary actors such as Morgan Freeman, Lawrence Fishburne, and Andy Garcia. Robinson says he'll reunite with "Phantom's" Harris, Duchovny, and Fichtner as well.
Angola movie producer Rui Costa Reis sat down with TheWrap to discuss his new movie "Phantom," a submarine thriller starring Ed Harris and David Duchovny which opened to just $650,000 in early March.
But he is not daunted. A newcomer to the movie business, Costa Reis explained his strategy for growing an independent movie production and distribution company, as the chairman of RCR Media Group. Eliad Josephson, to his right, is the CEO. "It was a very good experience since the first day of shooting this movie, and releasing it to the market," he says.

How did an Angolan multimillionaire end up taking a bath at the box office with the Ed Harris submarine thriller "Phantom"?
It’s a long story.
