More photos: After The Fall - David Duchovny

Public meetings are a common sight inside City Hall, but Wednesday, the building served as the set for an independent movie starring David Duchovny, Timothy Hutton and Hope Davis. The movie, “After the Fall,” is inspired by true events that led to the founding of the Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital, which served as a model for including family in the healing process. The hospital is in Valhalla, N.Y. Duchovny, probably best known for his TV role in “The X Files,” and Hope Davis play parents whose daughter dies but go on to help form the new children’s hospital. Movie crews arrived at 6 a.m. Several trucks lined up adjacent to the building, and dozens of cables snaked their way through the auditorium and the surrounding halls for the shoot. The crew shot two scenes for the movie.

The large scope of the auditorium was one of the reasons it was chosen for the scene.

“We just loved the look and feel of it,” said Anthony Mastromauro, producer for the movie. “We are happy to work here, and the people are friendly.”

The main entrance to the hall was left open during the scene to give it the feel that any person could walk into the meeting, he said.

Mayor Ben Blake’s personal office was transformed into a New York senator’s office for the day.

“This is great exposure for Milford,” Blake said. “It’s also good for the downtown shops and businesses as people come in and out.” Continued...
