Hank Moody Finger Tattoo
Actually this tattoo is real! It's one of David Duchovny's tattoos and he never covered it for filming Californication, except for a few flashback scenes (and you won't see it either in some promotional photos). During the series, it was never explained why Hank Moody has a tattoo on his ring finger. It was never mentioned in episodes unlike the anchor tattoo on his back. The tattoo on his finger is a four letter anagram AYSF, David Duchovny never revealed what those four letters stand for because he wants to keep it a secret.
