Ratings: ‘The X-Files’ Rises in Finale

Fox’s reboot of “The X-Files” had a nice bounce back from its low opposite the Grammys last week, growing 14% for its finale and tying with ABC’s similarly rising “The Bachelor” as Monday’s top program among young adults.

According to preliminary national estimates from Nielsen, the sixth and final episode of “The X-Files” averaged a 2.4 rating/8 share in adults 18-49 and 7.6 million viewers overall from 8 to 9 p.m., on par with “The Bachelor” for the hour and the night. “X-Files” was Monday’s top-rated program outright in adults 25-54 (3.0/8) and all key male demos.

More than 20 million viewers watched the premiere of “The X-Files” within the first three days of its premiere last month, and the show is tracking as broadcast television’s No. 2-rated drama of the season in adults 18-49, behind only Fox’s “Empire.” It’s unclear, though, if or when the show might return to the network.
