‘The X-Files’ Is Getting a San Diego Comic-Con Panel After All

...Kind of. Mulder and Scully may be returning for even more X-Files adventures, but they’ll also be back for a new one set before the recent revival. (Though still after The X-Files: I Want to Believe.)

In The X-Files: Cold Cases — which you can listen to in an exclusive clip below — series stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson reprise their roles as the iconic duo who team up once again to look into a data breach at the FBI headquarters that has resulted in a mysterious new group having access to old X-Files investigations. The full-cast audio dramatization is based on Joe Harris and Chris Carter’s graphic novels of the same name and sees many original cast members reprising their roles, including Mitch Pileggi as FBI Assistant Director Walter Skinner, William B. Davis as the Cigarette Smoking Man, and Tom Braidwood, Dean Haglund, and Bruce Harwood as the Lone Gunmen.

That’s not the only treat X-Files fans can look forward to in the coming weeks. Audible will be hosting a panel at San Diego Comic-Con this year on July 22, featuring Dirk Maggs, the producer behind Cold Cases as well as audio drama productions of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy and Alien: Out of the Shadows, and series (and audio drama) star Duchovny himself.

In addition, listeners will be able to access Audible’s X-Files Face Morph, which is an activation where users can pre-select an audio clip from The X-Files: Cold Cases as their face morphs into a different X-Files character, which they can then share a video of (audio overlay included) on social media. Anyone looking for Maggs’ autograph will be able to head to the Audible booth where he’ll be signing X-Files posters for an hour each day from July 21-23.

X-Files: Cold Cases will be available for purchase July 18. Preorder the audiobook here. See photos of Duchovny and Anderson in the recording booth, above.
